Travel Update

Safely ‘home’ and all together

What a whirlwind few weeks. Some of you may know already, but for those of you who don’t Cori and John are safely back ‘home’ in South Africa too. With the new COVID variant sparking travel restrictions and new concerns about increased cases we decided that the wisest thing was to travel back to Durban and avoid the risk of getting trapped on the ship and separated as a family.

So the next few weeks are going to look a little different than expected.

  • John will continue to support Mike and Ingrid who have taken over the leadership of the Visitor Engagement Department and Book Fair on board Logos Hope.
  • We will be thinking through the coming months – accommodation and travel, schooling for Cori, connecting with current and potential future partners, church report back.
  • Cori and Lily are missing our ship community, but are also being spoilt by their grandparents and aunts and uncle.
  • Dané and John will get to spend our 10th wedding anniversary together and will take some time away to celebrate.

Being ‘home’ in Durban is an unusual experience. We feel very comfortable here, but are also very aware that home and so many of our precious people are still floating in the harbour in Freetown, Sierra Leone. We will be working on a longer, more detailed update over the next little while and are excited to share this with you soon!

PRAISE: For safe travels and being back together as a family.

PRAYER: Our transition to life on furlough, our continued investment in those still on board Logos Hope and our future plans.
