The world is a busy and hectic place, and not nearly as full of places to pause and rest as it should be. God has given us (a) a deep desire to see Jesus followers thriving, (b) skills to help people pause, rest and reconnect with Him, and (c) a wonderful spare room in our apartment, in the beautiful city of Linz, 200m from the dazzling Donau River.
We want to intentionally put these three things together and offer a space of rest to anyone who needs it. We don’t know yet exactly how it will work, which makes it a fun, kind of mini-adventure. The basic idea is that:
- The Spare (r)Oom is a short-term place of rest and care. We imagine that people would stay for 2 to 7 days and use their time to relax, reflect, and spend time with Jesus.
- It’s open to anyone who needs a space to rest. We expect that most people would find out via word-of-mouth and the recommendation of people that know us and our heart for caring for people.
- We hope it will be primarily used by those transitioning into or out of full-time serving roles. Preference will be given to those who seem most in need of care and rest, given the requests and info that we have.
- We can accommodate up to families of 4: 2 single beds (which can be put together), 1 double bed sleeper couch, 2 mattresses on the floor.
- The cost will be on a ‘contribute what you can’ basis. Essentially free, but with the option to contribute towards the hospitality and the work we do with OM.
So please help us serve those who are serving others. If you would benefit from a visit the Spare (r)Oom or know someone that would, please connect with us or send them a link to this page.
Meanwhile,” said Mr Tumnus, “it is winter in Narnia, and has been for ever so long, and we shall both catch cold if we stand here talking in the snow. Daughter of Eve from the far land of Spare Oom where eternal summer reigns around the bright city of War Drobe, how would it be if you came and have tea with me?”
